Curriculum for Excellence

Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) is the new name for the education system that has been introduced across Scotland for all 3-18 year olds – wherever they learn.

Curriculum for Excellence develops skills for learning, life and work to help young people go on to further study, secure work and enjoy life and leisure.  It makes learning relevant and helps young people apply lessons to their life beyond the classroom.  It links knowledge in one subject area to another, helping children and young people understand the world and make connections.  It develops skills so that children can think for themselves, make sound judgments, challenge, enquire and find solutions.  Every child is entitled to a broad and deep general education, whatever their level and ability.

During their time at Crathes we hope that all pupils will develop the skills to enable them to become:

Successful learners, Confident individuals, Effective contributors and Responsible citizens

The curriculum is delivered through the following curricular areas:

Levels

The framework is designed to be flexible to permit careful planning for those with additional support needs, including those who have a learning difficulty and those who are particularly able or talented.

Early – Pre School and P1

First – To the end of P4, but earlier for some children

Second – To the end of P7, but earlier for some children
